Hi all' While taken captures' with your camera and scope.Do you use piggyback' prime focus' afocal' etc Thanks.Taff

All three methods work well and most of us have used them all at one time or another.

Personally I use prime focus mainly, though I do also sometimes use piggy back for ultra wide field shots with a 28mm lens.

Not that I've done alot but prime for me- can't piggyback however I have once mounted the camera and lens directly onto the mount puc for some widefield.

Taff, with your 300d you should be doing prime focus, it's just a waste of a camera trying to do either other method really given that you've got an 18-55 lense that doesn't focus to infinity

To do either of the other 2 methods you're going to have to spend some extra money on parts, afocal will give you the worst results out of the 2, Piggybacking will be as good as the lense you buy for the camera but with prime focus, just a T-ring and a T-adapter depending on your scope and away you go

Prime focus for me, although I have done a bit of piggybacking and I'm currently waiting for an adapter for the HEQ5 that will let me stick the camera straight onto the mount, so i might be doing some more wide field stuff in the future.

Piggybacking is a fine way to image, if you've got a decent lens. Unfortunately, Taffs 18-55mm stock canon isn't a decent lens, nor is mine
