ABYSS - Hubble deep sky

Recommended Posts

I was recently in Tenerife at the IAC (our institute collaborates with them in the SUNDIAL project) where they presented this work before publication. Their way of estimating the sky background is very interesting, and could well be an improvement upon the method we have embedded in our own astronomical source detection software. Our detection method is more sensitive than the NoiseChisel method used in this paper (and our method handles sources nested within each other properly, like stars overlaying galaxies), but the way NoiseChisel can be used to do background estimation is worth investigating.

Just had an idea wrt burred signal and if the noise vs time can be used.

not only for deconv, super resolutiob but noise signal analysis at the same time.

just need time to think through some maths.
