Where is this?!

Hi all,

Im on a mission to find the 'Bullet Cluster', Also known as 1E0657-56, General internet searches and starry night dont really tell you nothing! apart from that its a 'Dark matter'. Has anyone ever imaged it or even know its RA - Dec.

at dec -55 it's deep in the southern sky, so out of reach from the UK

With these alphanumeric names, you can usually figure out roughly where they are - so for a cluster called 1E0657-56, "1E" means the first Einstein X-ray catalogue (where it was discovered), 0657 is the RA and -56 the declination.

Doesn't always work though

Somtimes they are just catalogue numbers, e.g. 3C273 which is object 273 in the third Cambridge catalogue (the '3C' bit), others are blumming confusing, like IRC +10420 which looks like it might split out into something sensible, but doesn't really (it's star 420 in the InfraRed Catalogue with DEC between +5 and +15 - not, as you might think, something with RA 10, Dec 42.0).
