Nikon D3300 setting Aperture

Just a quick question, I have set my camera to M (manual) fitted the T ring and Barlow

would i be right in saying you can not set the aperture?

Probably a newbie question, but only starting out so please be gentle

Correct. The camera will probably show F00 for the aperture with no lens attached. This is normal.
