Reducer spacing confusion

Hi. I've been playing around with this reducer:

I've noticed that contrary to the info on the page the reduction effect seems to get stronger as I increase the distance between sensor and the reducer. Does this mean I've got a defective reducer or is the info on the page the wrong way round?

That is correct, the further the spacing the more the reduction....that’s the way all the reducers work that I have owned....
