Trying to webcam the moon today I came across a problem which I don't know how to get around. The webcam image was sharp, but was moving and distorting. The Registaxed result was very poor as the averaged result lost all the sharpness.

Is this "seeing" that I'm seeing?

Is there a way round this?

Sounds like poor seeing CC.

Thought so. Going to have a go with the DSLR, that way I get the full snap all at one go, no stacking required.

Could also be a hot scope, was it left to cool for a while? newts take less time than SCTs/Maks but still need some time to adjust.

Don't think it was hot. It lives locked up outside to prevent hotscopeitis. We were going for it a bit with the Barlow on at 3X and a bit (webcam not all the way in).

We'll keep at it as the magnification is wow provoking this way.
