Orthoscopic eyepieces

Recommended Posts

Thanks. Doing some work now then will decide later. Keep any thoughts coming if you like. I seem to understand the trade offs now between Takahashi ortho, BCO, Pentax XW and Myriad. Only not considering the Ethos due to cost. Will probably be a 5 or 6mm.

Here is my report on the Myriads in case it's of any use. I compared the 20mm and 9mm to the Ethos 21mm and 8mm and the 5mm and 3.5mm Myriads with Pentax XW's:

If it was me in your shoes I might not entirely rule out the Vixen SLV or LVW ranges either. Very nice optical performance and very comfortable as well.

The XW 5mm would be a very useful 240x magnification eyepiece in a 1200mm focal length scope. Great for the moon, Saturn, Mars and double stars. The 3.5mm is a great eyepiece as well but delivers too much magnification to be used more than very occasionally with the same scope.

Actually with postage they wanted £192.25 which is fair enough but I’ve just ordered from FLO a Myriad 5mm instead for £171.95.

had to make a decision and kept swinging between myriad and Pentax XW. I want to try both haha.

Sorry I’m a nightmare for changing my mind haha
