Dumb imaging/computer question...

I'm just processing some Moon avis (5 meg before 8PM, must be a record?) and got thinking, how do I know what brightness levels etc other people are using on their computers so I can adjust the levels in the pictures. Is there a default gamma/contrast etc setting on PCs?

Don't go there, full gamma / monitor / colour management control is a nightmare.

But in Photoshop / Paint Shop Pro / and most other packages, hidden away in the settings / preferences, you will find a gamma setting, follow the instructions, it is easy to set.

Also you will find colour management, it is best to leave this alone, unless you know the colour space your camera / monitor / software / printer / inks / paper use. Best left alone until you have more experience / knowledge.
