My polar finder drives me crazy

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Can anybody please help me. Last night I tried to align my telescope with polaris but it was impossible.

I attach you a screenshot of what I see from the polar scope of my skywatcher eq3-2 mount.

The reticle doesn't seem to be straight, whereas the reticle that the software polar finder shows me is straight.

Just turn the mount until the cross hairs are in the right place.

If you use Jason Dale's polar finder http://myastroimages.com/Polar_FinderScope_by_Jason_Dale/ you can download a replacement reticle that matches yours here:

http://www.stubmandrel.co.uk/astronomy/123-new-style-reticle-for-polarfinder

There are instructions on how to replace the original reticle with the new style one.

Just turn the scope so the view matches the program then move Polaris to the right place on the 'clock face'.
