Nikon Coolpix L340 autofocus problem.

Hi, this isn't specifically astronomy-related, more of a general camera problem.

When i press the shutter button half way the scene comes nicely into focus, but as soon as i take a photo or start a video the camera auto-focuses and it's way off, really blurry.

I went into settings and turned the AF off, did a manual focus, took a shot/video and it still goes off focus.

What am i doing wrong, this is the first camera i've owned since i had a 35mm Zenit back in the 80s!

It could be a problem with the camera. To eliminate user error / camera shake put the camera on a tripod or table and use the self timer to trigger the shutter. If the results are still blurry have the camera checked out by an authorised Nikon dealer.

Thanks Cornelius, i am on a tripod but will try the timer shot.
