Europa's transit of Jupiter 5 May 18

Recommended Posts

Foreshortening makes it appear that Europa is just skimming above the surface of Jupiter, in fact it orbits at about nine Jupiter radiuses. Io, at left actually has an orbit about 1/3 smaller. Callisto, below, is the furthest out of these moons. the largest, Ganymede, is off the left of the frame.

One two-minute run using ASI120MC with 150PL, x3 barlow, baader IR cut filter, ZWO ADC.

Processed with PIPP, AS!3, PS2, Astra Image and Registax. The image has not been resampled or colour balanced.
