ngc3372 - Eta carina nebula

Recommended Posts

Tonight, since the full moon was up, and sky was clear, i thought to use the time to improve my polar alignment.

i fired up sharpcap,  aligned the best i could and decide to image the eta carina nebula to see how it would look like under such a bright sky. The resulting alignment was really good and i got a steady guiding, even managed to do a 600 second test, but it was all washed out. So i decided to stick with 2 minutes subs.

There is a lot of coma at the left corner (i have yet to test my CC)

31x120s @ iso 800  stacked in DSS and processed in photoshop, used nik's collection dfine2 to reduce the noise.

I`m putting a link to the autosave.tif file in case anyone wants to download and process it too since it is not visible in the UK:

Just an updated version, heavily cropped, this time with about 3 hours of integration and processed with startools.  Can't wait to get more images to see how much more detail i can get.

Thanks John,  what is the sig nebulae? I tried to find it on stellarium but did not find.

The trifid and lagoon are nice targets to image, and lagoon is one of my favorites. Did you image it? If you did I'd like to see.
