Milky Way and Astronomik CLS clip filter

Recommended Posts

I'm in a moderate light pollution zone so some type of filter is a must. I have been using the CLS filter with my Canon 5D Mark lll for deep sky objects etc with good results. Has anyone used this filter for widefield Milky Way imaging and if so, would you mind sharing some of your photos. Thanks.

CLS and UHC filters are too aggresive for moderate light pollution if you ask me. They kill star colors. Besides if your camera isn't modified you won't get the advantage of Halpha transmission, so the color balance could be off even worse. Maybe you can look at broadband LP filters if your light pollution isn't too bad.
