After my improved attempt at this over the weekend, I thought I'd have another go last night under very clear skies (still far from "dark" skies, however :D )

The tracking was playing up really badly, some subs had huge trails from the RA drive having issues - I was running it from batteries, which I don't think are very reliable in the cold... As a result, I gave up after only 25 subs, of which only 23 were any good.

In spite of all that, I think the result is an improvement over my last one - I've played with the levels, curves and contrast a lot more, and there's more dust! :D

Still a million miles away from the much better examples on here (you all know who you are! :) ), but given the short subs and other issues, I'm happy (and best of all, I can look at it and know it's mine! )

Super dust lane detail Trevor!

Ahhh batteries! Gone over to mains now myself and apart from the possibility of death at 3 am from electrocution in the backgarden I've not looked back!

Have a look at Tom Dianes tutorial on curves like I was doing Trevor - It helped me enormously if thats any help (not that you need it). I just can't believe how I got by before.
