Hydrophobic Coatings

In the quest to make my ASC dome repellent of water, I have tried Rainex, but that does not work so great.

I think I may have found the answer in Gentoo but the only stopper I can see is the ridiculous price for it.  400ml mixed wold cost me £100 or there abouts.  Fair does it does cover 7m2, so can get a bit of stuff done, but am also wondering, how would it perform in the fight against dew?  Would this stop it forming? or would it start to form and then run off / bead up?

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of stuff like this...or anything similar

AFAIK it just makes it run off but don't know for sure.  I could do with the same.
