Attach M42 camera lens to CCD

How could I attach an old M42 camera lens to a CCD camera?

I notice that many CCD cameras have an M42x0.75mm thread and this is similar to M42 camera lens mount, but the thread pitch is different.

Would I need an adapter, or is it dependent on the machining tolerances?

Would I still be able to achieve infinity focus?

To get infinity focus you will need to space the lens 45.46mm OR LESS from the CCD surface.

Slightly short is good as it means you can actually find infinity focus before you run out of adjustment.

Because of poor machining tolerances you can often use the cheapest M42x1.0mm Extension Tubes to get your spacing.
