Skymax 127

Just sky tested a Skymax 127 Mak received from a fellow forum member earlier this week. All I can say is wow - tack sharp and really great contrast. Jupiter was too low for serious observing but the little Mak certainly made the best of the photons it received.

I'm planning to use this scope on a Vixen Porta mount - does anyone have experience of this setup ???

I don't have the Vixen but this little Mak punches above it's weight.

For what it costs it's put a big smile on my face

I've got a 127Mak on a GP mount - great combination for moon and planets, but I like the idea of a Porta for extra mobility. Would also love to hear from anyone who has tried this.

I've got my Vixen ED102SS refractor on a Portamount and it works very well

The Vixen weighs about 5kg in total and is about twice the length of a 127mm Mak so I should think the Mak would be absoloutely fine on it.

Look out for used ones - I got mine for about 50% of the new price, collected.
