Dual / triple rig scope aligning saddle

Davey-T

Recommended Posts

Working on making a light adjustable mount to align two possibly three scopes.

Made from 15mm aluminium and 1mm stainless steel.

Adjustable horizontally by knurled knobs and vertically by the four screws underneath, once set it is locked in place by the stainless steel end plates.

This the Mk111 version after a couple of prototypes, only had my cheapo pillar drill with milling bits in it and an angle grinder so not exactly precision engineering

Have now got the main time consuming bits programed into CNC machine so can knock them out a bit quicker and neater.

Weighs 1.6 kilos with dovetail clamp

Heheh... So this is what else you "get up to"? Just superb though. :)
Wish I had the machines / skill. I try to resist Angle Grinders now! lol.

I am much persuaded that Dual... Triple mounts are the way to go.
I often struggle with "guide-scope rings". LOW profile "left-right"
solutions (with firm clampings) seem much the way to go [IMO]! ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

Bought one of these off Amazon just to see if it was any good, not expecting much for £40.00 but it actually works quite well, not absolute precision but pretty good.

Probably do a bit of fettling and may even fit a couple of stepper motors on the feeds

I have access to a CNC machine but it's a few hours round trip so this is handy for small jobs.
