Setting Circles need to be "calibrated" on a known star first.

Chose a fairly bright star you can easily identify and look up its coordinates from a planetarium or star atlas.

Locate the star, centre in the eyepiece

Set the setting circles to the stars location - check on your mount how to lock them into place

Now, you can "dial in" another object my simply moving the mount until the pointers on the circles point to the coordinates you need! Simple!!

Well, almost. Unfortunately, most setting circles are not that accurate, however, you *should* find that the object sits with the FOV of a low-power EP.

HTH :)
