20 minute Elephant at 200mm.

Recommended Posts

This is my first in this forum for several months because of travel and illness. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and been wowed and intimidated by the standard of images posted. Time to bring it down a notch or two to my level :iamwithstupid:

I managed to get 4 usable subs last night. Of course, it needs a lot more data to get a good image but as there is little prospect of imaging here for a week at least (weather and moon), I thought I would have a play and get processing again. It was a challenge to process, lots of noise and trailing, but I suppose for twenty minutes its not too bad!

4 X 5min, iso 1600, F5, 200mm (70-300 L zoom), 100D (modded). Tracked on a EQ5Pro, DSS and PS. UHC filter. I plan to get a scope out and have a go with that next time, If I can remember which way it points!

Here it is:-

The Garnet Star looks wonderful! Like a jewel on a pile of gold.  RGB is always difficult on this target-need lots of data.  Amazing image scale--this target is BIG!.
