Orion and Friends Revisted

Recommended Posts

Had another bash at processing the super widefield shot of Orion I took a few months ago by applying a false flat in Pixinsight and rejigging the colour balance to get rid of the cyan cast of the CLS filter. The shot is a stack of three shots 2x10mins and 1x18mins.

The set up was a Canon 400d with Astronomik CLS clip filter, 10-20mm Sigma EX DC lens, Astrotrac mount.

The Rosettes contrast and the Auriga clusters are better. A little bit more of a hint of Barnard's loop is visible and the dark lanes around the Lambda Orionis Nebula at the top of Orion stand out more. There are several dark lanes running through the middle of the picture from the Orion and Rosette upwards.

At least this carp weather makes you practice with the processing.

Hope you enjoy,

Regards
