Orion though Baader UHC-S

First shots with new Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM. :)

Single 240s frame at f/2.8 via Baader UHC-S,
Gradient removed via IRIS, Quick "Levels" etc.
More data to play with (eventually).

Pleased to see evidence of Barnard's loop now.
UHC gives "interesting" colours - Eh, readers?  :p

Very nice shot :) how are you finding the 50mm f1.8? I have the same lens and I really like it, its not the best in the corners but then again for the price who's to complain?! I find it also makes a great low light lens for normal photography. 

Which UHC-S filter do you have? A screw on one or a clip in one? Do you find it helps with the LP?

Hi Folks - Thank you for the encouragement! :)

For what it's worth, I am very pleased with the 50mm f/1.8 STM.
Not least the price? I promise myself not to spend (much) more! :p

For the purists (and fellow nerds):

After a few testcard tests, this is what I get at the extreme edge
of a (Canon 100D APS-C) frame in *reality* - Approx. 13x mag! ;)

Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM at f/1.8 (full aperture):

For the moment, I've decided to go with the "middlin" f/2.8! :D

Re. Filters I tried with "No Filter", a Skywatcher  "Light Pollution"
Filter (Essentially a Baader "Neodymium"?) and a Baader UHC-S.

Here is not THAT bad (for a UK site) for light pollution, but... :evil4:
(All images are now fixed at 2min at f/2.8  ISO 1600)

To "see" the fainter Nebulosity, close to the horizon,
the Baader UHC-S seems to help quite a bit though!

IRIS's GRADIENT REMOVAL rids me of the "bright"
(light pollution) bottom edge. Now we're cooking? :)

Casually wondering if I might add some "Simulated
Green" or maybe a "Luminosity" layer - Generated
from this? But all down to experiment innit though?

Basically looking for something quick and simple! :D

Aside: The UHC-S filter is (newer type) 2" screw in!
For a Canon 50mm f/1.8 it needs a 49mm to 48mm
adapter of course... Got this by return post from:

Hoping to have another go tonight! Failed to notice
that ORION had moved (partly) below the obsy wall
