Second attempt at a variable - U Cep

Recommended Posts

Here is my second attempt a variable star. This time U Cep which has a longer period of around 2.5 days. Like the previous one this is also an eclipsing binary star but in this case the eclipse is total which makes the bottom of the curve flat as the brightness doesn't change as the eclipsing star passes in front. The forecast indicated that it was going to be totally clear on Friday night, but of course, it wasn't and so the beginning of the eclipse is missing although one reading was managed on the way down. The large gap is due to daylight on Saturday and I stopped when the cloud rolled in on Sat evening. This is still with a green filter as I am waiting for Ian King to get new stock of V filters. Somebody ordered the last one he had just a day before my order!!
