Insulating secondary heater

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of ways to further insulate the back of my secondary dew heater on the vx14 and was interested in hearing any ideas.

I have made a dew/light shield I can put on the scope to minimise the need for any heater but it's extra stuff to transport and set up. I also judge by experience when I can get away with no shield and no heater.

When I do use it I use as little heat as possible but I still notice heat currents coming off the secondary heater.

To reduce the amount of heat needed and the amount escaping even further, I was thinking of a layer non conducting material against the heater, then some tin foil to reflect heat back in then a layer of flocking to stop scatter and some way of making it all secure.

Has anyone got any ideas or any contraptions to the same end?
