running observing programmes

Hi all

I'm a member of the <a href="http://www.cotswoldas.org.uk/cas/">Cotswold Astronomical Society</a>, and was recently elected as their new Observing Director. One of the things I'm trying to do is establish some observing programmes to help provide some structure and focus for new (and experienced!) members as they spend time at the eyepiece.

I was wondering whether anyone else here has had any experience of doing similar things with other societies, and if there are any "pearls of wisdom" that people could share?

I know people use the Herchel 400.

There is also the Lunar 100 and varios double star lists.

You could consider the brighter NGC open clusters and globs.
