Sketch NGC 2202 21/12/2017

Initially I mis-identified a larger cluster for this object but this shows the value of sketching what you see so that you can confirm it later. Shown in the first sketch is what I thought was this cluster and circled in black is the actual cluster later confirmed on 27/12/2016 with more aperture and less field. Looking at the apparent scale of the object is important so you can estimate how much of a field should fit it in nicely. Had I done this before looking for this object I'd have realised I was at too low a magnification.

This is apparently one of the non-existent Herschel objects, since identified as NGC 2202

Yeah, it's a bit of a new year's resolution to just observe and sketch one or two items per session with the object's own notebook section / page, and then upload them onto here to encourage people to have a look / go at sketching etc. It's sometimes a challenge but always rewarding :icon_biggrin:

I just sketch on white and then invert the colours in paint - simples.
