ORION GUIDE SCOPE

Recommended Posts

I see Orion make a good refractor guide scope 80T.  Specs are 80mm object lens with a focal length of 380mm.  It has a rack & pinion focusser which accepts 1.25" eyepieces. Does anyone know if this guide scope could also be used as a finder or is the F.O.V. to narrow ?......Dave

I think this would make a poor finderscope, below in yellow is the fov with a budget get 40mm eyepiece and in green for comparison is the fov for the Skywatcher 9x50 finderscope.  I think if you use the guide scope you have already found what you were looking for.
