Will going from a 1.25" T-ring adaptor to a 2" reduce exposure times ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Up to now I have been using a 1.25" adaptor on my cameras T-ring as that's all my previous scope could handle. But now that I have an ED100 which can take a 2" adaptor, I have just ordered one so that I do not have to use the 2" to 1.25" reducer. However from an imaging point of view, will the wider 2" aperture reduce my exposure times by allowing more light to pass through, (which would logically be the case), or is it not that simple ?

As always thanks in advance

:D

Hi Ian,

It will make no difference at all to the exposure time. But you will find that there will be no Vignetting at the corners of each frame (which you may have had with the 1.25" adapter).

You'll be able to use 2" LP filters as well now.

Cheers

Ant
