Freezing Grease

Hi,

I have a variety of extending poles with sheet in between (in the garden), that i use as light shields. I have greased the poles with normal castrol grease - the kind you find in Halfords.

Last night at -4C I went to extend the poles but they were stuck as the grease had frozen. Anyone know of a better type of gease for lower temps. I do need a small tub, but don't want to pay the earth for specialist grease.

The grease would not have frozen but you could have got water in with it and it's that which froze. Better to try and stop the water getting in if you can.

Good point, - very likely there is some water in the tubing, as they are outside all year round. I guess I was hoping that the grease would 'expel' the water too. I will have a think what to do.

Try a good blast witha water repellent spray such as WD40 personally I use GT85 

And  point the male section of the joint(s) upwards to stop the water running down and seeping in
