Best to try and address the drift if you can, because it's not just the stars that get trailed it is also the faint features too! When the faint features get trailed then their apparent brightness goes down very quickly and any sharpness/definition gets lost as the light has been spread over more pixels (that make sense?) Basically, it makes it impossible to pull out faint details. If the tracking had been accurate then your exposure length would have been good for revealing a lot more detail.
