M31 200mm lens

Tried the camera (D90) on the HEQ5 last night,with a Sigma 70-200 F2.8.

Still not 100% happy with the polar alignment,this is a 2min exposure.

Comments/criticism more than welcome.

How many light frames was that?

And did you try shorter exposure lengths just to see if the stars became more I guess round?

Best to try and address the drift if you can, because it's not just the stars that get trailed it is also the faint features too! When the faint features get trailed then their apparent brightness goes down very quickly and any sharpness/definition gets lost as the light has been spread over more pixels (that make sense?) Basically, it makes it impossible to pull out faint details. If the tracking had been accurate then your exposure length would have been good for revealing a lot more detail.

It was just 1 x 2min exposure happy-cat. Thanks for advice  Chris,more tweaking is  in order.
