CANON 300D getting started

Helllo experienced Camera Club member - no experience here, however invited to participate in night shoot, have Canon 300D still working fine  and request advice on basic settings

and any help for starting out based on my  300D will be appreciated - thank you

Firstly, you want to focus on a land object. This should be with normal snapping mode.

Next you want to set your mode to M (manual) This should be on the spinning knob on the right had side.

Basic settings: If you are in a dark site, you want to set your ISO to about 1250 or more. If not, keep your ISO down otherwise you will get a lot of orange in your picture (due to streetlights and other sources of artificial light). Exposure: 30 secs. I'm not too sure about the lens of the camera but you do want to keep the exposure down if you have a high zoom lens. You will get star lines (due to the rotation of the earth).
