park scope to home

just wondered, without using EQMOD is there a way to park the scope to a different location as home using the synscan ? reason im asking is the "at home" position the scope is quite high up and if I could park it at a lower angle then building an obsy around it I wouldnt need to go so high.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the mount considered whatever position it was in when starting was "home". So, if you rotate the mount manually (by releasing the clutches) when it is switched off to the position you want, and then start it, when you park it at the end of the night it would return to that position.

At least, I think that's the way it works!

But surely when I restart it it will think its pointing to the pole star instead of say the horizon,
