Here's my most recent sketch of Mars, made on the morning of March 25th 2016.

Please note, the magnification recorded as X100 should read X133, which although still quite low, in a binoviewer provides an acceptable image scale.

What appears to be a bright southern polar cap is actually the impact basin Argyre, which was on the southern limb.
