hand controller for classic celestron nexstar 8

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 celestron nexstar 8 and the hand controller has been damaged.  I am looking for a schematic or a replacement controller.  This controller has the word "info" on the bottom left hand key.  Would appreciate any help as I hate to lose the use of my nexstar 8.

I have just today updated my Celestron 6/8SE Goto mount hand controller to a Nexstar+ hand controller, and have the original hand controller as a spare. Current firmware level for this hand controller is at the highest level available for it as it is now obsolete (NXS 4.21 - MC: 15.4 15.4). The hand controller works perfectly with all functions operable. Below are pics of the controller. If you want it I would let you have it for £35 + P&P (normally use 2nd class signed for postage which is £3.90).

Gus :)

Just to note that it is a little fiddly to get the connector for the hand controller plugged back in easily. Quite a bit of patience and care is required to line up the connector back in correctly. Other than that it's a piece of cake to swap them! :)
