HH and Flame. what is this?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Had a go at Horsehead and Flame Monday night  as a wide field tracking experiment to see what HA came out with my un modded 1100D

I have suffered gradients from LP as per the norm in my garden. I do have a badder neodynum for LP but didnt use it as it also says IR cut. Will this reduce any HA the sensor can pick up on top of the IR cut in the camera?

Setup was

1100D With tamron 70-300 @ 300mm unfiltered

60x1 mins lights, 16x1 min darks and 20 each bias and flats

On EQ3-2 motordriven unguided mount

This is the final cropped image, as you can see not much HAon this so next experiment will be to guide for longer subs.

My question is this. can anyone hazard a guess as to what this green bit is ?

Thats my first thought to be honest.

I have checked the lens and there were specs on there but nothing long like this and the sensor is clean.

Nothing is showing on the flats either.

Ill check it out though next time out

Could somthing be reflecting in the lens ?

Looking at it again there is a second artifact up and to the right like a ghost of the circled one thus tend to agree PBS.

I do have some M42 primes but they suffer from CA

I shall keep experimenting then :)
