ok so i can official join the club, at half one this morning i ran outside after having seen a bright star sat on house across roads chimney pot.

set scope up and boom, jupiter, king of planets.

at 130x i got two belts and 3 moons. not identified them yet.

also saw scorpius, but was too giddy to search for saggittarius lol.

Welcome to the Jupiter Club.

It is a fine sight is it not. Pity it is such a low declination, but hey, nothing we can do about that, except move way way way down South. You just have to cataloguue the four Gallilean Moons now, then you become a life long member of the Jupiter Club.

lol, the moons i saw were Io, Europa and Callisto. unfortunately Ganymede was doing a transit as i just found out and i was too shattered to wait, half hour more and it would have popped out.

but yeah it was a little blurry but every so often the belts would show, GRS was wrong side for me too but i am still on a buzz after seeing it .
