eq6 adjust after goto upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi

I just rebuilt an eq6 non-synscan, old enough to have the sticky black bitumen grease. What a mess. Anyway, the rebuild and upgrade went OK. I removed the old analogue motors and replaced with stepper and a synscan board.

Question: at slew 9, the dec motor sometimes stops with a squeaking sound. I can get it by the same spot by backing of the worm ever so slightly, perhaps less than a 1/4 turn and taking up the slack on the other side. It seems _very_ sensitive. All the worms and bearings have been cleaned and regreased withn modern grease. Is it normal for the worm mesh to be so critical?

At any other speed, there is no such problem. Any sanity check most welcome.

TIA
