Oo Oc1 Up-Grade, Steel Track, Moonlight Etc

Recommended Posts

I intend to do some scope maintenance this summer and after a tube powder coating and flocking I fancied changing the focuser which is the old OC1 version. I had thought about a single speed Moonlight but all the fixing kits seem to be for Synta, Meade and what have you. Is there a kit available for OO out there do we know?

I've fitted a Moonlite CR2 focuser to my 12" Orion Optics dobsonian relatively recently. Becuase the Orion tubes are a bit smaller than Skywatcher and Meade equivalents I found that the 10" fitting kit matched my tube diameter just right:

Maybe the 8" kit would be good for your 10" OO tube ?

I did have to drill 2 additional holes in the tube wall to get an exact match with the various hole positions on the fitting plate in the kit. The existing holes were covered by the Moonlite fitting plate.

Thanks John. I'll have to check that out. Perhaps if I bought the fixing plate first before I commit to buying a focuser. I had a moonlight on a refractor once, a very nice if expensive bit of kit. I never used the dual speed really if a I am honest, I never felt I needed it. It was very satisfying to twiddle however  :happy7:
