MOV to AVI conversion for Registax

Is there a decent free MOV to avi converter?

I am trying to convert my MOV videos to AVI to use in Registax but it seems every time I convert it using free converters, it is converted in a way that Registax can't read.  Any advice?

I'm not sure, but PIPP may well do this. It does most other things so well worth a look.
