Qhy5l-ii mono oag

Hi, anyone using the qhy5L-ii mono for off axis guiding?

I've had great success using it with a finder guider but really want to fit it to the qsi583 on my FSQ @

f 3.6

The small pixels are a concern but I might be over thinking it.

Hi Ray, only had mine for a couple of months so only really got to test it 3 or 4 times. I still have some work to do in balancing my scope and adjusting to Mount PEC to get better shaped stars but as far as the QHY5L-ii mono connected via the OAG is concerned, it's worked well for me. Never had a problem finding a guide star or getting it to guide with PHD.

Yes, I used one on my 115mm triplet for a while.

Do you really need an OAG on such a short focal length scope?

No is the short answer, the finder guider works well..but....I'm a tidy freak and the oag frees up the top of the scope rings for either a handle or if one drops through the letter box..a baby Q :-)
