Damn planes !

We used to get this problem... On a few occasions the aircraft passed very close to my guide star, and it was interesting (and infuriating) to watch the turbulence degrade the stability of the star for 10's of seconds afterwards. Not helpful.

Don't worry; once OneWeb and their competitors launch their 600+ satellite constellations, everyone will be getting trails in their subs.

Hope you manage to get some good plane-free subs anyway.

Why not go to 2 minute subs timing them between the planes?

If you must do 3 minute subs then surely, assuming that each plane takes a slightly different path against the sky, sufficient subs would remove them as noise. Not ideal I know but better than nothing.

You could try praying for another Icelandic volcanic eruption in the hope that they'll ground the planes again. The last time the planes were grounded the seeing conditions improved dramatically. The mangey contraptions cause great upheaval to the atmosphere as well as ruining many an image.
