 beamer & chris-better too big than too small,na it dont interfere with the view infact it aides it helps to cut out a bit of stray light by getting the scope out the window you see due to illness i dont get outside as much as i like so i do a lot of my skywatching from the window in that room. clear skys charl.

For that purpose I think it's a clever idea, as well as stray light from your room it might help a little in clearing some of the thermal turbulance from viewing/imaging inside perhaps?

chris- your right there i didnt think of the thermal side,its improved my moon images loads.  charl. ps yer it has to be well in line but its only 12 to 14 inch past the scopes dew sheild and the juberley clip holds it firm plus its a bit wider at the open end.
