tube flocking

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have now flocked the first 8 inches of my 130 tube that being 4 inch either side the focuser. I read this in s@n mag.

Will this suffice or should I cover anywhere else inside the tube?

Also I haven't had chance to try it out but it make a huge difference when collimating

Thanks in advance

I flocked my skywatcher 200 everywhere it was possible lol. might as well go the full hog. what you have done will make the most difference though. did you remove your mirrors to flock? I presume you did . flocking the focuser tube will make a slight difference too. as said flocking the tube does nothing to aid collimation.

Thanks both

I think I was misunderstood on collimation. It helped in that I felt I could see things better while doing it not that it made the process easier. It's the best I've got it yet anyway.

Can't wait to give it first light with the mods I've done.

Yeah mirrors were removed as I was also changing from a 1.25 to a better 2 inch focuser as well so I could use a coma corrector. It's my old astromaster 130 eq that rather than get rid, as it was a gift off her indoors, thought I'd shorten it and improve the focuser to make it an image scope before I get enough redies for an ed 80 :)
