A Cruise over Ceres.

Recommended Posts

Good article and video/images. Thank you for posting this, Ron.

I love how these asteroid flybys have throttled my younger imagination that had asteroids as being irregular, jagged...well...Rocks. Now I have a cause to pause every time I write the word 'asteroid.' I keep wanting to write 'minor planet,' or planetesimal.'

Amazed,

Dave

post-39127-0-89379700-1440419773_thumb.jThe Magellan probe launched from the Atlantis shuttle on 4 May1989 sent back the radar image of the Alpha Regio area of Venus in the early 90’s. The seven dome like hills are each about 25km in diameter and 750metres in height. Successive lava eruptions are thought to have formed them. Picture attached. They look similar to the Ceres dome but there may be no similarities on their formation what so ever. Thanks for the interesting post.
