August 19, 2015: Early morning and lunchtime H-alpha sessions

Recommended Posts

Early this morning there was an unexpected break in the clouds. Fairly quiet view but that AR close to the south-eastern limb showed promise. I therefore took the SolarMax 60 to work and had a lunchtime session with the PhD students. Load of fun as a nice filaprom showed just under the big AR in the south-east. The north-western limb was adorned with a thin, more-or-less straight, slightly knotted prom, standing out at an angle of only some 25 deg from the limb. Just north of it another, straight tower could be seen (but only very faintly). One or two filaments and plage areas on the disk were visible too. Quite quiet, but still quite a bit to see
