Ahh found it, looks good. Is it a popular astro model? My dad is uncomfortable buying it second hand so I'll be buying new. Also we'll be selling our Nikon cool pix 16mp to help fund it and we'll use it for the whole family

I am thinking of making a manual barn door after I get my camera, will this be helpful before I get a mount?

If you like diy then why not, mine is made so it does not need a tripod as I don't have one here.

Can anyone recommend a good but cheapish ball head tripod? Once again I want it as cheap as possible but I still want it to be good. Thanks!

You might find what you need on astroboot.

Even a gorilla pod tripod could be used and that may be more useful for being a family camera.
