Camera scared of the dark

Just got everything set up in a new position in the garden after having a large tree removed and getting better southerly view.

Tried everything in daylight and it all worked, last night the Atik 4000 wouldn't work, either wouldn't connect to Artemis capture or if it did briefly it promptly seized up, just tried it this morning and it works OK so I've come to the conclusion that it's scared of the dark unless anyone has a better idea ?

Changed cables, even changed laptops, it showed up in device manager as large format Atik and was reported as working properly just refused to connect.
