SCB-4000 Mods....

I am about to modify my newly acquired SCB-4000, plenty of really helpful threads on here but I have a few questions.

I note the convention is to remove the internal day/night filter system and fit a 1.25" UV/IR blocker on the C mount adapter, I assume this is because the built in terrestrial filter blocks some (of interest) astro-wavelengths and is also set to switch in and out with the day/night-colour/mono setting.

Is a 1.25" blocking filter still required if I am using a reflector?  I thought I read somewhere that star bloat isn't an issue on reflectors if there is no barlow or reducer in line.
