Hi Tracy,

Registax only supports - AVI/SER/RFL (RegiStax Framelist)/BMP/JPG/TIF/FIT filetypes, so yes convert it to an avi and then it should import OK.

Alternatively, take some stills of your movie (as BMP's) and make a mosaic using a great little free tool called iMerge http://jaggedplanet.com/imerge.html

You can spend as much as you dare on a webcam/high frame rate camera.

At the bottom end is the Xbox camera which is cheap, relatively easy to modify and does a passable job.  if you just want to play at things to start with it's not an unreasonable choice.

The SPC900 and its relative variants are still the best cameras I've found in their price range though you'll only find them second hand.  They do tend to come up here or on ebay or on astro buy & sell reasonably often for around fifty pounds.  They're also simple to mod.  The Lifecam Cinema probably works around around the same once you've modded it, but I couldn't get comparable results with it and the mod itself is much more complex.

After that you're probably into the bottom end of the dedicated astro camera market with cameras such as the ASI034MC.
