Glow in centre of FOV

I am tottering my first steps using a DSLR attached to a 8" Newtonian. Having established that I cannot focus without a Barlow, I have tried using a Celestron branded one (Ebay special). Very cheap, but I am guessing, also the cause of the 'central glow'?

Here is an example , using M27:
